THE MAN FROM UNCLE FANFICTION
CLASSIC SITE
The Man From Uncle was
the most classic spy show on television. Running from 1964 - 1968 it was
cool hip, suave and fun -- and those were just the two lead characters!
The prototype of spy and intrigue shows for many years, this stylish show
appealed to many -- reflecting the 60s with the look, the music, the grooviness.
For those who wanted
smooth and urbane, Napoleon Solo was the senior agent sophisticate. Illya
Kuryakin, the cool, aloof Russian, counterbalanced with his mysterious
and cryptic nature. Together, they were the top spy team of the decade.
Starring Robert Vaughn
as Napoleon Solo, and David McCallum as Illya Kuryakin, it set the pace
for slick, fun, hip, intrigue/drama for television spies. Using futuristic
technology, The United Network Command for Law and Enforcement, an international
crime-fighting organization, utilized James Bond-like agents in their quest
for world justice. Leo G. Carroll played their irascible leader, Alexander
Waverly. Napoleon and Illya, the two highest ranking Enforcement agents,
globe-hopped to exotic locales to romance a new girl of the week and usually
battle their arch-enemies, THRUSH (Technological Hierarchy For The Removal
Of Undesirables And The Subjugation Of Humanity). A reunion movie, The
Return Of The Man From UNCLE, The Fifteen Years Later Affair, aired on
CBS in 1983, with Patrick Macnee as the leader of the UNCLE organization.
For all those who could
not give up on the magnetic draw of these two swinging spies, there is
UNCLE fanfiction. As long as there is fanfiction, our favorite shows will
live on forever.
